MELROSE — Florence A. Weston, 100, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully at Bear Hill Nursing Center in Wakefield on Thursday, August 29.

Florence was born on July 8, 1916 in Newburyport. She worked for New England Life Insurance Co. as an instructor and supervisor.

She resided in Melrose where she led an active life in the community and beyond. She was a member of the Women’s Republican Club, and volunteered at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital as well as Mass General Hospital. She was also a longtime member of the First Baptist Church where she was a member of the East Side Circle.

More recently, she was a longtime well-loved resident of the Fitch Home in Melrose.

Florence was the beloved daughter of the late George T. Weston and Mary A. (Goodwin) Weston. Dear cousin of George Roaf and his wife Virginia.

Relatives and friends gathered in honor of Florence’s life for her Graveside Service at Belleville Cemetery, 26 Storey Ave., Newburyport on Wednesday, September 14, at 1 p.m.
