Fitzgerald, Ritchie, Strauss, Yasi honored

WAKEFIELD — The Middlesex League boys’ soccer all-stars met recently to make this year’s all-stars selections in the Freedom and Liberty divisions.

For the Warriors, they had four all-stars chosen. Seniors Neil Fitzgerald, Ian Ritchie, Tyler Strauss and Cameron Yasi were the four Wakefield players selected. Fitzgerald, Ritchie and Fitzgerald are all midfielders and Strauss is a goalkeeper.

Fitzgerald was also named an Eastern Mass. All-Star.

M.L. Freedom division champion Wilmington had the most all-stars with five, while Wakefield and Watertown were next with four selections. Burlington and Melrose both had two all-stars named and Stoneham had one player named.

In the M.L. Liberty division, Belmont and Lexington both led the way with six selections each. Winchester had three and Winchester, Arlington and Woburn each had two all-stars chosen.

There were seven Eastern Mass. All-stars, one which was Fitzgerald. There were three All-State selections and one All-New England selection.
