LYNNFIELD — Francis Joseph Carroll Jr., 87, of Lynnfield died on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the Sunrise at Gardner Park in Peabody.
Born in Lawrence on August 29, 1926, he was the son of the late Francis J. and Mabel (Jackson) Carroll.

Mr. Carroll was a graduate of Revere High School and had attended Franklin Institute. He had served in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Carroll retired as a store planner for the former Filene’s. He enjoyed woodworking, repairing antiques and model railroads, and he was a member of the Lynnfield Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Carroll was the husband of Mary T. Randazzo-Carroll of Lynnfield and the late Lillian F. (Rogers) Carroll. He was the father of Nancy Shaw of Reading, Thomas Carroll and his wife, Denise Mary, of Lynnfield, John B. Carroll and his wife, Linda, of Danvers, Janice Sopper and her husband, Carl, of Rowley, Paula Pare and her husband, Joe, of Lynnfield, James Carroll and his wife, Dawn, of Middleton, N.H., and Ellen Renadette and her husband, Mark, of Atkinson, N.H.

He was also the stepfather of Richard Randazzo and his wife Leslie of Wells, Maine, Dr. Ronald Randazzo and his companion Catherine Keith of Amesbury and Robert Randazzo and his wife Jodi of Salem.

Mr. Carroll is also survived by his 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

His funeral was held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, on Friday, Aug. 29 followed by a funeral Mass in the Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lynnfield. Visitation for relatives and friends was held at the Funeral Home on Thursday. Interment was in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
