BOSTON — The Warrior boys’ cross country team had two runners compete in the Div. 2 All-State Meet All-State meet last Saturday at Franklin Park. While neither placed among the top finishers, both represented WMHS very well and both ran a good race.

Jackson Gallagher, a senior, placed 81st overall with a time of 17:30 over the 5K course. Jack Stevens, a sophomore, placed 162nd in a time of 18:48.

“It was a great finish for Gallagher who was our number one runner for a good portion of the season,” said Coach Perry Pappas. “Cross Country is not his main sport but it has made him incredibly strong in preparation for the indoor track season where he hopes to repeat as the Div. 4 state champion in the 600 meters and would like to compete for an All-State title while running some very fast times. His goals are high but are possible.

“Jack Stevens had a breakout conclusion to his season and although he did not have his best day, we now know what he is capable of,” added Pappas. “He will be coming out for indoor track for the first time this season and that will only make us stronger as a team as we shoot for a league title this winter.”
