WAKEFIELD – The Galvin Middle School faculty proved too much for eighth grade students Friday as the Galvin Turkey Bowl returned following a two year absence.

The real winner, however, was the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry. In order to get in to watch the game, students had to bring something to give to the pantry. This year, they were challenged to donate boxes of instant potatoes, which the Galvin community easily did, handing over 400 boxes along with many other non-perishable items.

Leading up to the big game, there was plenty of taunting in the hallways and the cafeteria at the Galvin, with teachers and eighth graders each wearing their respective colors and trading barbs Friday before kickoff.

A great Thanksgiving atmosphere led to a great Turkey Bowl played for a great cause.
