Rightmyer-Obit-webFREEDOM, N.H. — George E. Rightmyer, 75, of Freedom, N.H. and formerly of North Reading, died at his home, on Monday, May 11, 2015.

Born in Charlestown, on July 11, 1939, he was the son of the late Edward C. and Blanche A. (Upton) Rightmyer. He was raised in North Reading and attended the L.D. Batchelder School and Reading High School. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving from 1956 to 1960.

George was the former owner and operator for many years of Kirby Vacuum Cleaners Sales and Service in Peabody. He was a member of the North Reading Minitmen and Militia and was active in North Reading politics for many years. He has been a resident of Freedom, N.H. since 2004.

George was loving person and was very generous to everyone. He enjoyed making crafts in his cellar workshop and was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran.

Family members include his loving sisters, Corinne A. Surette of North Reading, the late Joan A. Brewster and Lorraine A. Skelton; nephews, Robert A. Austin of Taunton, Steven Austin of Indiana, Peter and Edward Surette of North Reading and Paul Surette of Billerica, Jerry, Ralph and John Skelton; nieces, Elizabeth Tatom of Arizona and Lorraine Mendiola of California; he was the uncle of the late Thomas Surette; George has many great–nieces and nephews from North Reading and California and many cousins in the Boston area. He is also survived by his loving dog, Darby.

Funeral services were held at the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow St., North Reading on Monday, May 18. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in North Reading. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice. www.croswellfuneralhome.com.
