Gertrude-Greenler-obit-8-17-16-webLYNNFIELD — Gertrude A. (Leary) Greenler, 93, of Middleton, died peacefully on Aug. 15, at the Sunrise Senior Living of Lynnfield after a lengthy illness.

Born on Aug. 19, 1922, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and is survived by John J. Greenler, MD, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage.

She will be missed by her four children: Patricia and her husband Eric Anthony of Brighton; Carl of Lynn; Daniel and his wife Lisa of Wexford, Pa. and Kathleen and her husband Sean Sexton of Andover. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Donald, Andrew, Robert, Maria and Declan as well as 29 nieces and nephews, their spouses and children.

She was a graduate of Lynn English High School in 1940 and also studied at the Sargent College in Boston. Prior to her marriage in 1952, she ran the Gertrude A. Leary School of Dance in Lynn, where she shared her passion for dance with her many students and coordinated charity events. She enjoyed volunteering for the Massachusetts Medical Society Auxiliary at the local and state level. Gertrude, a devout Catholic, was also very active in her church, including singing in the choir for over 35 years.

Visiting Hours will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 17 from 4-7 p.m. at the Mackey Funeral Home, 128 South Main St., Middleton. Her Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18 at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 112 Chestnut St., Lynnfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice in her memory.
