LYNNFIELD — Football fans are gearing up for the 58th annual renewal of the intense rivalry between Lynnfield and North Reading on Thanksgiving Day.

Lynnfield hosts this year’s turkey tilt at Pioneer Stadium at Lynnfield High School, 275 Essex St. Kick off is at 10:30 a.m. Tickets will be sold at the gate for $10 per person, regardless of age. The discount on pre-game ticket sales is only available at the LHS Athletic Office daily now through Wednesday, Nov. 23 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. The cost is $7 for adults and $5 for students or senior citizens.

It promises to be a very competitive game as both teams will enter the field as the Cape Ann League Champions of their respective divisions and both teams also competed in the MIAA post-season state tournament playoffs.

The 6-3 Pioneers advanced to the Div. 3A North semifinals where they were stymied by the undefeated St. Mary’s of Lynn.

The 8-2 Hornets advanced to the Div. 2A North finals before being eliminated from the playoffs and a shot at competing in the Super Bowl by the undefeated Marblehead Magicians.

Lynnfield leads the Thanksgiving Day rivalry 35-22.
