Harrington takes fifth in 600, 4×800 relay team finishes eighth

BOSTON — The Wakefield Memorial High girls’ indoor track team placed two entries at the Div. 4 Indoor Track and Field Championship Meet on Thursday night at the Reggie Lewis Track Center.

Senior captain Abby Harrington took fifth in the 600 meter run and the 4×800 relay finished in eighth place and scored a point.

Harrington placed fifth overall in the 600 and a good time of 1:41.26.

The 4×800 relay team clocked in at 10:10.73 and earned a medal with its eighth place finish. The four runners included Harrrington, freshman Olivia Lucey, sophomore Isabella Kehoe, and senior captain Cassie Lucci.

Wakefield also had four more competitors in the meet, but they did not place.

Ana Lucas, a junior, ran a personal best time of 7.81 seconds in the 55 meter dash and finished in 16th place. There was a glitch in the timing system and the event needed to run a second time at the end of the meet.

Lucey also competed in the mile and she finished in 16th place in a time of 5:33.12.

The Warriors had two athletes that competed in the shot put. Junior Julia Brown and sophomore Eadeen Beck took 21st and 23rd with throws of 29-8 and 29-0 1/4.
