LYNNFIELD — The girls’ indoor track team gave a valiant effort in a tri-meet against Newburyport and Triton on Dec. 28.

The Pioneers (1-5) fell 63-22 to Newburyport and 69-16 to Triton.

Freshman Sarah Crockett, freshman Courtney Shinnick and sophomore Brie Giamarco each gave strong performances in the high jump. Crockett’s high jump was 4’4.” Shinnick’s high jump was 4’4” and Giamarco’s high jump was 4’2.”

Junior Abbie Dickie (24’9”) and junior Rachel DiTullio (23’3”) each scored in the shot put. Giamarco (7.54) and freshman Shelby Considine (8.46) each scored in the hurdles. Sophomore Maddie Gibbons finished third in the dash (6.30).

Sophomore Kate Mitchell won the mile (5:48). Junior Liz Reed won the 600 meters (1:57). Lily DiPietro finished third in the 600 (2:06).

“The girls had some good performances,” said Pioneers head coach Liane Cook.

Upcoming meets

The Pioneers host Amesbury and Ipswich on Wednesday, Jan. 6, beginning at 7 p.m. at Andover High School.
