LEDYARD, Conn. — Gloria Gifford, of Gales Ferry, Conn., devoted wife of Maurice Scully for 38 years and loving and beloved mother of Bryan Scully, died Thursday, Feb. 2, peacefully at home surrounded by her family and ever faithful dog, Rascal and her loving and dedicated caregiver, Bali Ezugbaia.
Gloria was a wonderful woman, devoted and giving to her family and friends and always had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. Gloria was the epitome of strength and courage in the face of her long battle with cancer and Frontotemporal dementia.
Born in 1949, in Little Falls, N.Y., Gloria received a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology. She worked for many years at The William W. Backus Hospital as a medical technologist.
She is survived by her husband, Maurice Scully; son, Bryan Scully; sister, Geraldine and spouse, Vincent DeGennaro; sister, Linda and spouse, Charlie McLaughlin of Wakefield, Mass.; sister, Robbie and spouse, Ralph Stellmacher; and by her in-laws, Mary Ellen Devaney and Kevin Scully; and by 14 loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at St. Athanasius Parish, 300 Haverhill St., Reading, Mass.
