LYNNFIELD — The Lynnfield-North Reading co-operative wrestling team earned its first victory of the 2014-2015 Cape Ann League season last week.

The Black and Gold (3-1) crushed Pentucket 36-8 on Dec. 17.

Sophomore Will Glover (106 lbs.) pinned his opponent in 2:32. Freshman Chris DiPietro (120 lbs.) earned his first varsity victory after he defeated his counterpart by fall in 16 seconds. Junior Max Whyman (126 lbs.) pinned his opponent in 1:14.

Junior Zach Blacker (132 lbs.) defeated his Pentucket counterpart after bringing him to the ground in 2:55. Senior captain Dom Monzione (145 lbs.) pinned his opponent in 4:29. Senior Josh Marcinowski (160 lbs.) earned his first varsity win after defeating his opponent by fall in 1:34.

Senior captain Joe Morse (113 lbs.) defeated his opponent by forfeit. Senior captain Lucas Pascucci (138 lbs.) defeated his counterpart by forfeit. Junior Michael Reardon (152 lbs.) defeated his opponent by forfeit.

Senior Nick Wilkinson (195 lbs.) defeated his counterpart by forfeit. Sophomore Vitaliy Andrusushyn (220 lbs.) defeated his opponent by forfeit. Senior Brandon Troisi (285 lbs.) defeated his opponent by forfeit.

“Pentucket is suffering from a small squad and injuries,” said Black and Gold head coach Craig Stone. “They were unable to fill a full team.”

Upcoming meets

The Black and Gold competed in the Anthony Lisitano Tournament at Wakefield Memorial High School on Saturday, Dec. 20, taking place after deadline. The grapplers hosted Malden Catholic and Marblehead on Tuesday, Dec. 23, which also took place after deadline.

The Black and Gold will compete in the Pentucket Holiday Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 27, beginning at 10 a.m.
