NORTH READING – Filmmaker Adam Griswold is set to premier his latest project “Space People 2” next Friday evening, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Capitol Theater in Arlington.

Griswold, a town resident who graduated from North Reading High School in 2006, is following up on his first “Space People” movie, a science fiction comedy that was released last year.
In a recent conversation with the Transcript, Griswold said that he’s been making his own films for about five years now, each of which typically runs from about 45 to 60 minutes. He graduated from Emerson College in 2010 and started off working with other film industry projects in the Boston area. His first acting experience was in high school theater, and he was also starting to make some video projects as early as middle school.
In “Space People,” Griswold plays the leader of a crew of people from outer space who must make an emergency landing on Earth. Once here, they apparently have difficulty getting anyone to help them because everyone believes they’re delusional people dressed up in space suits.

According to Griswold’s website, “Space People” was an official selection at the 2016 Boston Science Fiction Film Festival, the Super Geek Film Festival, the Boston Comic Con Film Festival, and StarGate Galactic International Sci-Fi Film Festival.”

Griswold describes his current skill set in film as “a bit of everything,” including directing, producing, writing and editing. “I go through the whole process,” said Griswold. He explained that there’s a fairly large and tight knit independent film production community in the Boston area.

Along with the “Space People” movies, Griswold has also been doing some acting and writing work for the web-based parody series “Paragods.” That show, which has three seasons behind it, is a “mockumentary” style comedy about EMTs and firefighters and New Hampshire.

Griswold produces his films and web series through his company, Smoking Bottle Entertainment. Projects dating back to 2011 can be viewed at one section of SmokingBottleEntertainment.com. Along with the original Space People movie, visitors to the website can also check out Griswold films dating back to 2011, including “The Dolchemok Tapes,” a Blair Witch Project parody, plus “Murder by Upload” and “Revenge of the Animals,” a 2014 project. Griswold also created a three-part short film series between 2012 and 2013 featuring “The Cartoon Man,” a character who finds himself transforming into a crazy cartoon character.

“Space People” can be purchased or viewed for a fee on Amazon, with a link provided by the Smoking Bottle website. Griswold also said that there will be a showing of the first “Space People” movie in New Hampshire in June.

There is also an official “Space People” website at SpacePeopleMovie.com as well as an official Paragods website at Paragods.com.

Tickets for the premier of “Space People 2” are available online at EventBrite.com by searching for “Space People 2 World Premier,” as well as at the theater.
