SARASOTA, FL — Harlan W. Glover passed away quietly in his sleep at Doctors Hospital in Sarasota, FL on July 23, 2021, shortly after saying good night to his loving wife of 62 years, Paula H. Glover.

He was born to (the late) Eva M. and John G. Glover, in Melrose, MA on December 24, 1934. Harlan, with Paula, shared his talent and love of music. At Wakefield High School he was lead trumpet, a member of “The Famous & Colorful Red Men’s Band of Wakefield, MA,” and began his own band.

While at Tufts University, he joined the US Air Force ROTC, and served for three decades, active duty and reserve, mentoring and recruiting high school students for the Air Force Academy. He retired in 1993 at the rank of Colonel.

He also had a 32-year career with S.D. Warren Paper Company, including a change from downtown Boston to his beloved Maine, yet always remained a loyal Red Sox fan.

He was also a charter member of Christchurch, Portland, ME. Harlan and Paula traveled the world with friends and family, for pleasure, on missionary trips, and with the New Hampshire Friendship Chorus, visiting a total of five continents and countless countries.

He is survived by his wife, Paula H. Glover; son, Christian J. Glover; daughter and son-in-law, Lauren F. and H. Allen Shaw, Jr.; granddaughters, Khrystal E. Parker and Naomi H. Araya; brothers, John Duncan Glover and Steven W. Glover. He was predeceased by his sister Susan G. Glover.

Harlan lived his life with the greatest love for God, his family, and his country.
