Executive secretary, accomplished golfer

PEABODY — Helen L. Robicheau, a former resident of Reading, died at Lahey Hospital in Burlington on Feb. 19, 2016 after a fall in her home at Brooksby Village, Peabody. She was 96.

She was born in Brookline and raised in Boston, where she graduated from Girls’ Latin School and the Katharine Gibbs School. She was a former executive secretary for the Herald American and Bostonian Shoes. She twice scored a hole-in-one as a golfer and enjoyed playing bridge, crocheting and reading. In Reading, she was a member of the First Congregational Church. Until her accident, she remained active and independent, conversant in politics and finance, and followed the New England Patriots.

Memorial services will be private and Helen’s remains will be interred next to her late husband, Lawrence A. Robicheau, in the Massachusetts National Cemetery on Cape Cod, near their former home in Pocasset. One sister, Florence Scarpas of Boston, also preceded her in death. She leaves one son, Paul; daughter-in-law Toni Fernandez, and granddaughter Ruby, all of Melrose.
