Henry-waters-Obit-webNORTH READING — Henry W. Waters – 81, of North Reading and formerly of Union, Maine, died Friday, May 1, 2015 at Wingate of Reading. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to the late Maria A. (Mandarino) Waters, who died on March 15, 2014.

Born in Bangor, Maine on May 21, 1933, he was the son of the late William Waters and Veda (Cunningham) Scott. He was a graduate of Union High School in Maine, Class of 1951.

Henry was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served from 1951 to 1955 and then reenlisted for an additional six years until 1961. He served in Naples, Italy, where he met his wife the true love of his life Maria. He was a Ward Clerk at the VA Hospital in Togus, Maine. After his retirement he worked for Walmart Pharmacy and Shaw’s Supermarket, both in Rockland, Maine.

Henry was a faithful member of the God’s Lighthouse Church, in Rockland, Maine, where he served as a Deacon and Church Treasurer. Henry was a member of the VFW, in Rockland, Maine. While living in North Reading, for the past year, he was an active member of the Senior Center and he especially was fond of Wednesday Bingo games at the Center.

Henry was an avid gardener, he enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. He loved greeting fair goers at the gate of the Union Fair yearly where he was employed during the summer. Henry was a real people person and easily made new friends. He loved playing cribbage and board games with the grandchildren and spending time with family pets, Cooper and Daisy.

Family members include his loving daughters, Catherine Lento and her husband Guy of North Reading, Elizabeth Hayes and her husband Troy of Friendship, ME and Theresa Waters of Thomaston, ME; his brother, Randy (Ralph) Scott and his wife Carol of Union, ME and his sister, Patricia Howes and her husband Keith of Carmichael, CA; seven grandchildren, Rachel, Alicia, Stephanie, Victoria and Danielle Lento, Katherine and Nicholas Simoneau. Stepson of the late Herman Scott.

His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 9 at 10 a.m. at the Trinity Evangelical Church, 105 Haverhill Street, North Reading. A reception will follow the service at the church hall. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be held in Union, Maine at a later date.
