MELROSE — The Melrose Knights of Columbus Council #128 is inviting all veterans, Fire Dept., Police Dept., and first responders  to the annual Hometown Heroes event. The Knights are hosting a celebration luncheon on May 21, 2022, to recognize and honor local veterans and first responders. The Knights want to recognize all the veterans who reside in Melrose as well as those fire fighters, police officers and other emergency personnel who serve this city without prejudice. Civilians are also welcome.

The luncheon will entail a free meal, entertainment, free transportation to and from the event and raffles.

Raffles are $10 each or six for $50. Grand prize is $2,000; second prize is $1,000; and third prize is $750.

To the many military service members who have protected our freedoms, the police who protect us from those with criminal intent and the fire fighters and EMTs who race to our rescue, this is a chance to express our deep and heartfelt gratitude. We want to take this time to say thank you, to show our respect and let you know that the Knights of Columbus support you.

The Melrose Knights of Columbus are working closely with Karen Burke, the District Director of the Melrose Veterans Services Office. In a joint effort to provide a day where our heroes can come and enjoy a meal, be thanked for their service and to get to know some of their neighbors. The Knights invite all heroes to stop by the Melrose Knights of Columbus Hall on 23 West Foster Street on May 21, 2022, anytime between 12 noon and 4 p.m. for a free lunch. The Knights will also secure the use of the Melrose Council On Aging minibus to help transport those heroes who need assistance.
