NORTH READING — Sophomore Mike Sheridan’s unbelievable six-goal performance propelled the Hornets boys’ lacrosse team to an impressive 13-3 victory over the Dracut Middies in their home opener on Monday.

Sophomore Sean Fagen had a strong game as well, contributing two goals and five assists.

The game had been postponed from Saturday morning due to the snowstorm on April Fool’s Day

North Reading played a great first quarter. They scored five goals and led 5-1 by the end of one.  The Hornets added another goal in the second and took a 6-2 lead into the half.

NRHS put the Middies away in the third quarter. They outscored Dracut 5-1 and the lead ballooned to 11-3 by the start of the fourth. The Hornets scored twice in the final quarter and cruised to victory.

Upcoming games

The Hornets will travel to Danvers today (April 6) for a 4 p.m. start. They’ll travel to Nantucket for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday, April 8 and will host the Triton Vikings in their first Cape Ann League game of the season next Tuesday, April 11 at 4 p.m. at Arthur J. Kenney Field.
