NORTH READING — The North Reading High girls’ outdoor track and field team opened up their season with an impressive win over the Hamilton-Wenham, 125-16 at home on Tuesday. The Hornets swept the meet, winning all 17 events en route to their victory.

Leading the team to victory were the following event winners: Giuliana Ligor (400M Hurdles and 400 Meters), Kayla Budny (Triple Jump, 100M, and 4x100M Relay), Ava McIntyre (Long Jump, 200M, and 4x100M Relay), Annalise Butler (800M and Two Mile), Abigail Lilley (Discus Throw and High Jump), Hayden MacLellan (Pole Vault), Madison Vant (Javelin Throw and 4x100M Relay), Emma Mini (Shot Put), Annnie MacLellan (100M Hurdles), Alison Koenig (One Mile), Madison DiNapoli (4x100M Relay) and the 4x400M Relay team made up of Tiara Lamont, Hayden MacLellan, Madelyn Arian Aitchison and Karleigh Budny. This group’s first place finishes totaled 85 of the Hornets 125 points scored.

Also scoring points in the meet finishing in second or third place were the following athletes: Tiara Lamont (400M Hurdles), Stella Da Silva (One Mile), Hayden MacLellan (100M Hurdles), Giuliana Ligor (High Jump), Annie MacLellan (High Jump), Ava Rosati (Shot Put), Riley Cullen (Shot Put), Yasmin Farias (Pole Vault), Emma Mini (Discus Throw), Abigail Gerber (Discus Throw and Javelin Throw), Jackie Magner (Javelin Throw), Georgia Robarts (Triple Jump), Brooke Harrington (Triple Jump), Karleigh Budny (400 Meters), Ava Collins (Two Mile) and Maddie DiNapoli (200M).

There were standout performances across the board highlighted by the following state championship qualifying marks:

Giuliana Ligor (1:08.7) and Madison Vant (1:10.0) both qualified for states in the 400M Hurdles with Giuliana’s mark being 4th all time in school history.

Ava McIntyre qualified for states in both the Long Jump (16’ 1”) and 200M (26.6) which is ranked 6th all time in school history.

Abigail Lilley qualified in the Discus Throw (93’ 2”).

Madison Vant qualified in the Javelin (115’ 2”) and is ranked 3rd all time in school history.

Annalise Butler qualified in the Two Mile and is ranked 6th all time in school history.

The 4x100M Relay team of Madison DiNapoli, Ava McIntyre, Kayla Budny and Madison Vant also qualified for states running a blazing fast time of 49.8 seconds.

The athletes and coaches are very happy with their performances after only two weeks of training and are looking forward to their upcoming meets which will take place on Monday, April 11 vs. Ipswich High School and Thursday, April 14 vs. Amesbury High School.
