Lynnfield resident was in banking, real estate

Haines-obit-webLYNN — James M. Haines, 77, of Lynnfield, died suddenly, Sunday, Oct. 4, due to complications of ALS, at Union Hospital, with his wife and their Goddaughter, Erica C. Tolley of Lynn by his side.

He was the beloved husband of Carole (Ellsworth) Haines with whom he shared 45 years of marriage.

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late William and Margaret (Goodwin) Haines. He served in the National Guard upon graduation from Lynn English High School, Class of 1955, from 1955 to 1962. James was a parishioner of St. Pius V Church in Lynn and Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Lynnfield.

He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret (Haines) MacRae and is survived by his brother-in-law Herbert MacRae of Haverhill, formerly of Beverly; his nephew William MacRae, his wife Amy, their children, Michael, Jason and William MacRae of Haverhill; Megan (MacRae) Radar, her husband Andrew Radar and their daughter Madison of Londonderry, N.H.; his nephew Steven MacRae, his wife Laurie and their children Christopher and Bethany MacRae of Haverhill; his goddaughter-in-law Maureen LaChance and her husband Mark, their children, Ryan, Katie and Cody of Haverhill; his friends Arthur Murray, Al Peters, JT, Basil Timmons, Nancy Walsh, Carol Smith and Stephanie Zink.

James worked in the Bank of Boston, Century Bank, real estate in the Lynn area and had a vending business.

He loved Patriots football and was a loyal Red Sox fan. He was a member of the Post 507 Franco American Club, Sergeant Robert D. Guthreau, VFW Post 6535, Brotherhood Community Center, all in Lynn and the Swampscott Veterans Post 1240.

James’ funeral will be at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn, on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple St., Lynn.

Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 4 to 8 p.m.
