SAUGUS — Jane Marie Forrest, 78, passed away at her home in Saugus on June 17.
Jane was born on August 13, 1938 to the late Francis and Rose (Timmons) Forrest.
She was raised in Melrose, graduated from St. Mary’s Grammar and St. Mary’s High School, Class of 1956. In 1971 she and a friend drove across the United States traveling on the northern route first, down the Pacific coast and took the southern route home. Jane went back to college and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northeastern University in 1976, where she received the Dean’s Award.
She was also a member of the Sigma Epsilon RHO Honors Society.
Jane worked as a bank teller at Massbank for Savings in Melrose for over 14 years. She was a Melrose resident from 1938-1983 before moving to Saugus. Jane was a lover of animals, especially cats, enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles and loved taking multiple trips a year to Ogunquit, Maine for many consecutive years.
She was the beloved wife of 42 years to Michael A. Chiaradonna. She was the loving sister of Rosemary Soroka of Leominster, Francis J. Forrest Jr. of AZ, Richard J. Forrest and his wife Gail of Malden and the late Alan Steven Forrest. She was the caring sister-in-law of Donna M. LaBonte of CA. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thursday, June 22, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral from the funeral home is Friday morning, June 23rd at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, 9 Herbert St. Melrose at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
