Homemaker, avid tennis player and animal lover

LYNNFIELD — Jean Hupper Fiscus, 99, a beloved mother, grandmother and longtime Lynnfield resident, died on Dec. 25, 2023 after a long battle with dementia at the Brudnick Center for Living in Peabody.

Born in Winchester in 1924, Jean was the daughter of the late Malcolm Hupper and Mabel Hupper Harris. She grew up in Wakefield and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1942. She married Willard “Bill” Fiscus in November 1945.

In 1949, Jean and Bill settled in Lynnfield to raise their family. Jean was a homemaker, avid tennis player and animal lover. She loved to sing with Bill and play the piano. Sadly, Bill died in 1978. Jean enjoyed time with her family at her vacation home on Cape Cod. For many years, she worked as a secretary for American Mutual Insurance Co. She attended continuing education courses at Salem State University. Jean was a longtime member of Centre Congregational Church.

Jean was the mother of Debra Jacobson (husband Andrew) of Ipswich; Donna Martinson (husband Brad) of Harwich; Daniel Fiscus (wife Gretchen) of Lynnfield; and the late David Fiscus (wife Florence) of Ashland. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Vita Taormina, Cameron Russo, Lauren Fiscus, Daniel Fiscus, Jr. and Delaney Fiscus; and cousins Linda Perry, Anne Blackstone and Theodore Hupper. Jean was predeceased by her stepbrother Dexter Harris.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Jeffrey and Susan Brudnick Center for Living and the Legacy Lifecare Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Jean while she was there.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at the Centre Congregational Church, 5 Summer St., Lynnfield on Saturday, May 4, with interment to follow at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody. The McDonald Funeral Home in Wakefield is handling the arrangements.
