WHS graduate was a cytotechnologist

Obit-Nauss-webPEABODY — Jean Margaret Nauss, 88, of Peabody, died Friday, March 11, at the Ledgewood Nursing & Skilled Rehab Center in Beverly.
Born in Concord on July 28, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Larry and Dorothy (Lohnes) Nauss.
Jean was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1944, and Cambridge Junior College, Class of 1946. She graduated from Bates College in 1949 with a bachelor of science with a major in Biology. She first worked at Fertility & Endocrine Clinic, Free Hospital for Women in Brookline until February of 1957; after which she went to work for Hartford Hospital Cytology Lab until her retirement in February of 1992.
Jean was a member of the American & International Societies of Cytotechnology. She returned to Massachusetts in 1993 and was active in the First Baptist Church of Wakefield.
Jean was the sister of Frances Claudine Nauss of Beverly and the late Sylvia Harrington. She is also survived by several cousins.
A memorial service will be celebrated on Monday, March 21 in the First Baptist Church, Loud Chapel, 8 Lafayette St., Wakefield at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
