STONEHAM — John F. Brennan, 90 of Stoneham, formerly of Wakefield, died Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln.

Mr. Brennan was born in Boston on November 30, 1927 and was raised in Malden. He graduated from catholic high school in Newton and shortly after enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and served during World War II. Upon returning home, he met and married his wife, Mary T. (O’Shea) and they raised their family in Wakefield. He and Mary loved to travel, especially to the beach and Aruba, where they spent three weeks every year. They also enjoyed square dancing and were members of the Yankee Twirlers. Mr. Brennan had been a Wakefield police officer for just under 30 years and was also a member of St. Joseph Church.

He was the beloved husband of Mary T. (O’Shea) Brennan. He was the loving father of James M. Brennan and his wife Jackie of Londonderry, N.H., David A. Brennan of Stoneham, Christopher L. Brennan of Stoneham, Peter J. Brennan and his wife Michelle of Reading, and the late Robert J. Brennan. He was the cherished grandfather of Joshua, Kerry, Rachel, Tracy and husband Eric, Keith, Alexandra, Tamara, Marissa, and John and his wife Nicole. He was the great-grandfather of Isabella, Aiden, and one on-the-way. He was the brother-in-law of Evelyn Cocozella and the late Donald O’Shea.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral service and interment will be private.
