Sylvain-obit-webSAUGUS — John J. Sylvain, 48, of Saugus, formerly of Melrose, died at the Tufts Medical Center in Boston on April 25.

John was born in Saugus, raised in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1987. He resided in Melrose for many years and the past three years in Saugus.

John worked as a mover for Doucette Moving Co. in Reading and was a former member of the Saugus Elks Club. He enjoyed fishing, working with his hands and building computers.

John was a very loving person who would always help others and would do anything for anyone. John’s family was the most important part of his life.

He was the loving son of Robert and Kathleen (Faragi) Sylvain of Saugus. He was the caring brother of Robert A. Sylvain and his wife Rosemarie of New Hampshire and the late James W. Sylvain. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews relatives and many friends.

Visiting hours were held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Monday, May 1, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral was from the Gately Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 2, at 8:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10 a.m.
