eaganobit-webWAKEFIELD — John Michael Egan, 34, died peacefully on Dec. 4 after valiantly battling cancer.  John was born on Jan. 21, 1981 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital to his parents Paul F. and Patricia A. (Palmerino) Egan.

John was raised in Wakefield and graduated from Wakefield Memorial High School in 1999.  He was an active member of the music department and played the trombone in the marching band and jazz band. He went on to attend Marquette University and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering. At Marquette he was very active in the engineering fraternity Sigma Phi Delta where he became the Chief Engineer. From there he fell into an engineering career designing and testing jet engines. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling, learning to brew beer, driving his Mustang and spending time with family and friends, particularly his adorable nieces.

In addition to his parents John is survived by his sisters Erin Egan and her husband Eric Lyons and Colleen Egan. As well as his nieces Abigail, Elyse and Olivia Lyons.  He is also survived by his fiancée Brittany Travis as well as a very large, extended family.

John’s funeral will be held on Wednesday from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield at 9 a. m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8 p. m. Interment will be held at St. Patrick Cemetery, Stoneham.
