U.S. Army veteran with local survivors

REVERE — John R. Carusone, 66, died unexpectedly March 5. He was born in Boston and lived in Revere all of his life and was a 1967 graduate of Revere High School. He entered the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam Era on Sept. 22, 1969 and served until he was discharged on April 15, 1971. He served with the rank of Private E-1, with a specialty as a field radio mechanic. At the time of his untimely death, he had completed 25 years of service with Stop & Shop as a produce clerk in the Saugus store. Always a gentleman, John had many friendships and co–workers, who were very fond of him. His presence will be sorely missed by many.

He was the son of the late John R. and Yole (Chiarelli) Carusone and the beloved foster son to the late Francis J. “Frank” Pazyra and Maria G.(Russo) Pazyra, with whom he made his home. He is the devoted brother of Barbara E. Carusone–Labbe of Revere, Rose Marie Thornton and her husband, Gordon of North Reading, Mary Ann Stasio and her husband and Dennis W. of Atkinson, N.H., Francis J. Pazyra Jr. and Stephen Pazyra and his wife Danette, all of Revere. He is the dear friend to Michael and Donna and the adored Godfather to Nicole, all of Salem. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, March 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107), Revere. Mr. Carusone’s Memorial Funeral Service will immediately follow the visitation at 7:15 p.m. in the Funeral Horne. His cremains will be interred at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne in the spring.
