Palmerobit-webWAKEFIELD — John W. “Jack” Palmer, 80, of Wakefield, died Tuesday, May 3 at his home surrounded by family.

Born in Somerville on June 30, 1935, he was the son of the late Thomas and Anna (O’Keefe) Palmer.

Mr. Palmer was the husband of Regina (Croft) Palmer, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. He was the father of Michael Palmer and his wife Joanne of Pensacola, Fla. and Mia Ballou and her husband Keith of Wakefield. He is also survived by Lupe Degnan, whom he thought of as a daughter. He was the brother of Jim Palmer of Wrentham, Bob Palmer of Plymouth and the late Thomas and Anna Palmer. He was the “Apah” to his four grandchildren: Jackie, Joel, Elisabeth and Kaileigh, and one great-grandchild: Serenity.

Mr. Palmer had been a longtime employee of Atlantic Gelatin.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday at 11 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at noon. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. Interment will be private.
