WAKEFIELD — Joseph T. Harrington Jr. of Wakefield died on Tuesday, March 8 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford surrounded by family.

Born in Lexington on June 17, 1932, he was the son of the late Joseph T. and Alice J. (Arey) Harrington.

Joe, also known as Mickey to close friends and family, was a graduate of Lexington High School, Class of 1950. In 2001, he was inducted to the Lexington High School Sports Hall of Fame with the 1948-1949 Eastern Massachusetts League Championship hockey team.  He moved to Wakefield in 1963 and was a member of St. Joseph Parish from that date. Joe was a retired salesman for Larkin Associates in Billerica and had also worked at the Cotting School in Lexington.

Mr. Harrington is survived by his wife Marjorie A. (Walsh) Harrington, his four children Daniel T. Harrington and his wife Linda Tarantino of Cambridge, Kathleen A. Ravenelle and her husband Donald, Jennifer A. Melanson and her husband Edward and Joseph T. Harrington III and his wife Francene all of Wakefield; his brother Francis A. Harrington of Billerica and his seven grandchildren Kristin, Andrew, Jonathan, Matthew, Joseph, Abigail and Thomas. He was predeceased by his brother Edward J. Harrington.

His Funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
