WAKEFIELD — Josephine A. Encarnacao, 92, a lifelong resident of Wakefield, died Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Brightview Senior Living Center in Wakefield.

Born in Wakefield on August 19, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Chiara (DiFilippo) Croce.

Josephine attended Wakefield Public Schools. She was employed by Berman and Levine Dress Manufacturer and Lawrence Fashions in Boston for 16 years as a seamstress. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with family and friends. When her children were young she was a den mother to the Cub Scouts and Bluebirds. She was a member of St. Florence Jr. Catholic Club. Known as “Josie” to her friends and family, she was a hardworking mom and very dedicated to her family.

Josephine leaves behind her children: Julio Encarnacao of Gloucester, Wayne Encarnacao and his wife Carol of Wakefield, Dominic Encarnacao of Maine, Anna Piergentili and her husband Piero of Vermont, Toni Encarnacao and her partner Alice Dailey of Danvers, Dana Encarnacao and his wife Sharyn of Saugus, and Paula Noble and her husband Christopher of Merrimac. She was the sister of Dora Adams of Wakefield, and the late Levia Caiani, Olga Silverio and Peter, Bernard, Dominic, John and Vincenzo Croce. She is also survived by her three beloved grandchildren: Cristina, Kara and Anthony Piergentili.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Thursday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
