WAKEFIELD — Judith L. “Judy” Hafferty, 78, of Wakefield, died Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at the Winchester Hospital.

Born in Winchester on December 12, 1940 she was the daughter of the late George and Ruth (Wilder) Burns.

Judy was raised and educated in Reading and was a graduate of Reading High School, Class of 1958. She had worked her entire career as a bank teller for multiple local banks. Judy loved to travel with her husband; you could always find her at the pool when they took annual trips to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, or chasing the sun on trips to Hawaii, Tahiti and many other tropical locations.

Judy was a fabulous cook and amazing host. She loved having family and friends over; most especially for summer pool parties, her Fourth of July bash, and Christmas festivities. She also loved to knit and gift her creations to family, friends, and neighbors. Lastly, Judy was an avid New England Patriots fan and never missed watching a game.

She was the beloved wife of James Hafferty. She was the loving mother of Eric Davis and his wife Deborah of Woburn, Kristen Hafferty of Salem and Michael Hafferty and his wife Cheryl of Peabody. She was the sister of the late Richard Burns. She was the cherished grandmother of Eric Davis Jr. and his wife Ashleigh, Andrew Davis and his fiancée Colleen, and Katherine and Courtney Davis. She is also survived by her great-grandson, Hayes Davis; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Her funeral service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be private.
