Loved by all for her gentle heart; accomplished skier, devoted Boston Lobsters fan
LYNNFIELD — Karen Bell Soderberg, 43, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sept. 19.
Karen, always full of joy, loved music, dancing, tennis and spending time with her friends. She was also an accomplished skier. Karen was a devoted fan and the team “mascot” of the Boston Lobsters Tennis team. She was loved by all for her gentle heart and wonderful sense of humor.
Karen was a graduate of North Shore Technical High School. While at the school, she was a member of both the volleyball and basketball teams. Karen was a member of the Wakefield Chapter of Rainbow Girls where she held the office of Treasurer.
She studied marketing at North Shore Tech and upon graduation, was employed by McDonald’s Restaurant of Middleton for 18 years. She also worked many years as an administrative assistant in the family’s insurance agency in Lynnfield, Soderberg Insurance Services. All this being truly remarkable, as Karen was born with Down syndrome.
She is survived by her parents, Douglas and Frances Soderberg of Lynnfield, her brother and sister-in-law, Craig and Layni Soderberg of Kuala Lampur, Malaysia, her sister, Kathryn Soderberg of Ipswich, and her long-time boyfriend, Harold Ingalls of Bedford. The family celebrated her life at a private remembrance service in Wakefield.
