Ray-obit-webMELROSE — Katherine A. (Kostas) Ray, 83, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 4, at the Golden Living Center – Melrose.

Katherine was born in Boston on May 6, 1933, one of three children of the late Stephen and Rose (Dresky) Kostas. She was raised in Boston where she graduated from Girls Catholic High School. Katherine, known affectionately by all as “Kay,” worked as a legal secretary for over 30 years.

Kay was strong willed and led an independent life, but also loved spending time with family, and cherished any family holiday or gathering. Kay will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.

Kay was the dear sister of Rosemary Graham and her late husband Bill of Braintree, Constance “Cookie” Devaney and her late husband Thomas of Abington, the late Charles Kostas and his late wife Carolyn and the late William Kostas and surviving wife Joanne of Easton. She is survived by her loving niece and caregiver, Cathleen Lawlor of Brockton and many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
