In 121st running of the Boston Marathon

BOSTON — On a warm April day, there were 31 Wakefield runners that were entered and ran under the warm conditions in the 121st running of the Boston Marathon yesterday among more than 30,000 entrants.
While Kenya’s Geoffrey Kirui was crowned the men’s champion in a time of 2:09:37 and Kenya’s Edna Kiplagat was the women’s champion with a time of 2:21:52, there were some fine performances by the Wakefield contingent in the 26.2 mile race.
Ryan Kerrigan, 36, was the top Wakefield finisher as he posted a time of 2:58:59. He was also the only Wakefield resident to complete the race in under three hours.
Taking second from Wakefield was Gavin Macbeath, 47, who clocked in at 3:25:38.
The top female finisher from Wakefield was Ceara Mahoney, 37, who timed in at 3:28:06. She beat out Wakefield’s Heather Lane, 40, who posted a time of 3:29:01.
The third, fourth, and fifth male runners from Wakefield included Mike Mondello, 45, Gregory Mastangelo, 32, and Bryan Polchlopek, 41. They ran times of 3:36:25, 3:46:28, and 3:58:34, respectively.
The third, fourth, and fifth female runners from the Wakefield contingent were Alyssa Marchant, 27, Melissa Fernando, 32, and Suzanne Hulick, 30. They ran times of 4:07:12, 4:29:12, and 4:36:49.
Also running the race in under four hours from Wakefield was Glen Josephson, 47, who clocked in at 3:59:45.
The rest of the male runners that were officially entered and finished the race included: Mark DiNocco (4:22:00), Paul Bouchard (4:29:03), Matthew Kerton (4:31:40), William Consolo (4:39:43), Nick Palmerino (4:43:22), Kevin Flynn (4:44:34), Michael Nelson (4:50:41), Gabriel Gagne (4:52:46), Michael Hartin (5:53:53), and Nicholas Kollett (5:53:33).
The rest of the female runners that were officially entered and finished the race included: Jennifer DeSimone (4:37:28), Gail Severt (4:42:53), Dawn Damiano (4:50:04), Samantha Bradway (5:01:30), Lindsy Connolly (5:10:50), Lauren Delisia (5:34:57), Krissy Nowell (5:37:20), Thuy Dang (5:54:15), and Mary O’Connell (5:54:22).
There was no official result for John Caron.
