NORTH READING — The demolition and excavation of the KidSpot Playground on Chestnut Street, beside Maguire Field, will begin today, Thursday, May 25.
“The playground will be closed until the completion of phase two which cannot begin until after July 1,” according to Parks Director Marty Tilton.
Funding for the demolition and rebuilding of KidSpot comes from two separate fiscal years. The excavation portion was funded in FY23, which ends June 30. Phase two, which was the topic of a public input meeting with the Recreation Committee Monday night, will be funded in the FY24 budget and grant cycle.
