LYNNFIELD — The Lynnfield boys’ track and field team posted some great performances in their losses against two tough teams at last week’s meet.

The team fell 86-59 to the Pentucket Sachems and 93-56 to the Masconomet Chieftains on May 3.

Top performances included Will Klotzbier’s state-qualifying throw of 115’3″ in the discus, which also earned him first place against both teams.

Brendan Bey also earned a double victory in the 400 meter hurdles with his first place time of 59.7.

It was a double victory for Will Fraulini in the high jump as he sailed over the bar at 5’6″.

John Quinn’s vault of 9 feet even earned him the double victory in the pole vault.

Nathan Drislane placed first against the Sachems and second against the Chieftains in the shot put with a throw of 40’7″.

In the long jump, Nick Kinnon also got first (20’4″) against the Sachems and second against the Chieftains.

Brett Cohee got first in the triple jump (41’2″) against Masconomet and second to Pentucket, and second against both teams in the 200m (24.57).

The 4 by 100 relay team (Hauser, Cohee, Murphy and Kinnon) took first overall against both teams and qualified for states with a time of 45.49.

The 4 by 400 relay team (Bey, Lynch, Iapicca and Kinnon) beat Masconomet with a time of 3:39, which also qualified them for states.

With a record of 1-5, the Pioneers are prepared to take on North Reading and Ipswich today, May 10.
