WAKEFIELD — The Dick Laramie Doubles Tournament held at the Dobbins Courts was well supported this year and concluded with champions in three doubles draws using a pro-set format.
The Men’s Doubles title went to the first time pairing of Rob Imbriano and Rich Greif, who edged multiple year Hartshorne Cup winner Brian Robertson and Matt Coraccio 9-7 in a well played final.
Equally well-played, the Women’s Doubles went to Katherine Greif and newcomer Maggie Wentworth escaping in an 8-4 final against the veteran pairing of Mary DiMaria and Maria DellaRoco.
Finally, in a high level display of shot making and court coverage, Mixed Doubles ended with a 10-8 victory for Rich and Katherine Greif, two time winners this day, over Jonathan Owen and Wentworth. The Greifs had to escape two match points along the way.
The Men’s Doubles consolation final went to two comeback players, Bill Conley and Kip King, over Dave Irons and Elliott Miller.
Many thanks to the Laramie Family and all who participated and donated to this Wakefield Tennis Association fund raising event that honors long time WTA player Dick Laramie. The Savings Bank again generously supported Wakefield Tennis.
