Dance enthusiast had many other interests

MELROSE — Laura B. (Gallugi) Barretto, 80, a longtime resident of Melrose passed away on Oct. 28.

Laura loved ballroom dancing and was a trained Flamenco dancer. She also taught and danced tap, jazz and ballet dancing. She was in the cast of Sully and Sophia’s Wedding and The Godfather’s 50th Birthday Dinner Shows and worked part time at Joker’s Wild in North Reading. Laura loved meeting her friends at the Dockside Restaurant in Wakefield and loved spending time with her family.

She was a former volunteer at Ironstone Farms in Andover helping special needs children learning to ride horses.

Laura also worked as a legal secretary before she retired.

Laura was the beloved mother of William Barretto and his wife Bridget of Melrose, Julieanne Barretto and her companion Michael Cipriano of Saugus, Janeen Sencabaugh and her husband David of Medford and the late Phillip R. Barretto. She was the daughter of the late William E. and Laura (Winter) Gallugi. Laura was the cherished grandmother of Daniel, Jonathan and Justin Sencabaugh and great-grandmother of Carly, Jed, Lily, and Aidan Sencabaugh. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and her loving grand dogs Butchie and Nugget.

The funeral was held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main St., Malden on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10 a.m.
