ObitBrooks-webWAKEFIELD — Lena J. (Muise) Brooks, 87, a longtime resident of Wakefield, entered into eternal life on Thursday, Nov. 26, at the Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center in Medford following an extended illness.

Lena was born in Wakefield on Sept. 7, 1928, a daughter of the late William H. and Frances R. (Robicheau) Muise. She grew up in Wakefield where she was educated in the Wakefield Public School system. Lena lived the majority of her life in Wakefield but she also lived in Hacienda Heights, Calif. for eight years and Charlestown for 12 years.

After living with her twin sister in California, Lena returned to Massachusetts and started working as a confectionary inspector for the NECCO Candy Company until she retired after 25 years. Lena enjoyed knitting, crocheting, watching Wheel of Fortune and the Boston Red Sox.

Lena was the devoted mother of Robert J. Brooks Jr. and his wife Patricia of Wakefield, William S. Brooks of Norfolk, Va., Bruce A. Brooks and his wife Linda of Mt. Vernon, Maine, Tammy L. Johnson and her husband Russell of Westford, Darlene F. Runyan of Derry, N.H. and the late Jeanette M. Eberhart. She was the loving Gram to 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was the beloved sister of Margaret Brady, Jennie Brault, Arthur “John” Muise and the late Irene Clark and Earl Muise.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Lena’s funeral on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St., Charlestown followed by her funeral Mass in St. Mary Church, 55 Warren St., Charlestown at 10 a.m.

Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, Dec. 1, from 3 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
