MELROSE — The Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild recently held its MET Musical Theater Awards Ceremony for the 2015-2016 season at the Cutler-Majestic Theatre in Boston. Forty-eight schools throughout the state were entered in the competition.
Melrose High School Drama’s production of “Les Miserables,” directed by Adam Schuler, received 14 nominations, the most awarded this year, and won five individual or group awards at the ceremony. The awards received were as follows:
Best Leading Actor: Keith Morris as Jean Valjean
Best Supporting Actor: Jacob Kahler as Thenardier
Best Supporting Actress: Evynand Akombi as Fantine
Best Choral Ensemble: the cast of Les Miserables
Best Student Orchestra: Violins — Elizabeth Hirsch, Ariane Faro, Danielle Curran, Marceline Joseph and Nicola Tysall.
Viola: Sophia Quinci, Alicia Thome.
Trumpet: Caleb Zimmerman.
Bass: Austin Smith.
