WAKEFIELD — Lillian M. Haladay, 93, of Wakefield died on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Wingate at Reading Nursing Home.

Born in Melrose on June 30, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Richard F. and Gertrude (Cameron) Smith.

Mrs. Haladay was a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1942. She had been a Wakefield resident for the past 65 years. Mrs. Haladay was a member of St. Joseph Church in Wakefield and had enjoyed sewing, baking and family gatherings.

She was the wife of the late Fred J. Haladay, Sr. Mrs. Haladay is survived by her daughter Kathleen Gibbs and her husband David of Stoneham, her two sons; Fred J. Haladay, Jr., and his wife Patricia of Manchester, N.H., and Richard J. Haladay and Kristine of Epping, N.H., and her sister Lorraine Halloran of Calif.. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren and her nine great grandchildren. Mrs. Haladay was predeceased by her sister Mary Martin and her three brothers; Charles Smith, Richard Smith and John Smith and her granddaughter Kerrie Haladay.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 11:30 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
