BOSTON — The North Reading Little League Challenger Baseball team was honored to be selected to attend the CVS Health Hitting Clinic at Fenway Park on Friday, August 12.
Members of the team arrived to a warm welcome from Red Sox representatives who escorted families to the home dugout. From there, the team had an opportunity to walk the warning track, take photos in front of Fenway’s famous Green Monster, which is 37 feet tall, and then return for a private hitting lesson at home plate with Red Sox hitting coaches Peter Fatse and Luis Ortiz.
Lunch was served in the Red Sox dugout where Challenger players received a CVS Health gift bag and a visit from Wally the Green Monster! After lunch, the families received a private tour of the 1912 ballpark, including a visit to the Red Sox Hall of Fame, the luxury suites and many other hidden treasures throughout Fenway Park, which is the oldest stadium in Major League Baseball.
The Challenger Baseball team then returned to the field to watch batting practice from behind home plate, during which several Red Sox hitters, including JD Martinez and Bobby Dalbec, signed autographs for the Challenger players.
The night was capped with a thrilling 3-2 walk-off win in 10 innings over the New York Yankees!
Lifetimes of memories were made for all involved during this special event.
