NORTH READING – With Mardi Gras arriving next week that means it’s time to make the lobster bisque. The first of this year’s Lenten Luncheons at the Union Congregational Church will be held on Feb. 12 from noon to 1 p.m. in the church’s Fellowship Hall. The luncheons are held every Friday during Lent and the lobster bisque is made by the church’s pastor, Rev. Rick Hughes.

In addition to the lobster bisque the menu includes a variety of homemade breads, desserts and beverages. The suggested donation for the luncheon is $10 a person and seconds are encouraged. The dessert each week rotates between apple cranberry crisp, brownie sundaes and strawberry shortcake. Quarts of the lobster bisque are also available for a suggested donation of $10 a quart. Quarts can be ordered in advance by calling the church office, 978–664–3703 or by sending an e-mail to nruccoffice@aol.com.
