Centore-obit-webMELROSE — Louis G. Centore, 52, of Melrose, passed away on Friday, November 13.

Louis was born in Medford on March 27, 1963 to Louis and Maria (Fionda) Centore. He was raised in Stoneham and graduated from Stoneham High School in 1981. After graduation from high school, Louis continued his education at Daniel Webster College where he graduated with a degree in Aviation Management in 1985.

Louis married the love of his life, Lorraine (DelBene) Centore at St. James Church in Medford in 1988.

The two moved to Melrose to start a life together and spent the last 25 years there. Louis was the proud father of Matthew, he never missed any of Matthew’s football games and even recorded all of them on tape to share with the team.

Besides being a dedicated husband and father, Louis was a lover of Harley Davidsons and fast cars, Mustangs in particular.

He spent 28 years working as an Airline Pilot for Untied Airlines, flying the 737’s. He saw much of the world as a Captain, and between flying planes, riding Harleys, and driving Mustangs, he was always going fast.

Louis will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was the beloved husband of Lorraine (DelBene) Centore of Melrose. He was the loving father of Matthew Centore of Melrose. He was the cherished son of Maria (Fionda) Centore and the late Louis. He was the caring brother of Joanne Messina and her husband Christopher of Stoneham, and Virginia Valeri of Andover. He was the brother-in-law of Catherine Graffeo of Swampscott, Bernard DelBene of Virginia, Freddie DelBene of Medford, and Michael DelBene of Cambridge. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Yeager.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 8 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Stoneham.
