LYNNFIELD — The Lynnfield High boys’ lacrosse team recorded its first win of the season on April 3 as they rolled over host Hamilton-Wenham, 18-6, on a raw, wet day.

“They still play on the grass so it was very muddy,” pointed out Pioneers head coach Pat Lamusta. “We came out fast and had a really good second quarter.”

This game was decided early as Lynnfield led 6-0 after the first quarter and 11-0 at the half.

“They have a young team but they do have a couple of good athletes at attack,” said Lamusta about the Generals.

The Pioneers improved to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the Cape Ann League while the Generals fell to 0-1 overall and in the league.

Will Norton led the team in scoring with a career-high eight goals to go with one assist. Kelan Cardinal also had a career high with 11 points as he had six goals and five assists.

Owen Considine finished with six points on three goals and three helpers while Even Rocha had one goal and two assists to round out the scoring.

Owen White had one assist.

Ben Pimentel improved to 1-1 in goal with eight saves.

The Pioneers controlled the face-offs as Tyler Maddocks was 17 for 24 while A.J. Chiaradonna went 2 for 3.

“They were dominant,” stated Lamusta.

Last Friday’s game at Amesbury was postponed due the weather (make-up date unknown as of press time).

Lynnfield’s next game is on April 11 as they host Ipswich at 4 p.m.

The Pioneers will then have the April Vacation Week off as they will not play again until April 23 when they visit Manchester-Essex at 4 p.m.
