LYNNFIELD — Once the warm weather arrives, the construction season is sure to follow. This is very true in Lynnfield, therefore, motorists, pedestrians and the public at large are advised of the following construction projects currently taking place or slated to begin soon on public ways and in public parks:

Town center

• The Department of Public Works began installing handicap ramps and pads for new benches in the town center on Wednesday, June 8.

The DPW believes this project will take approximately one week to complete, therefore, the public should expect to encounter possible delays when traveling through this area of town during construction.

Glen Meadow Park

• The children’s play area at Glen Meadow Park (off Trickett Road) will be closed starting Friday, June 10 for complete reconstruction. A construction schedule change necessitated the earlier starting date. The DPW states that children’s play area will reopen as soon as the project is completed.

Town Meeting voters approved $200,000 in capital improvements to facilitate the new play structure at Glen Meadow, which is the largest and most centrally located public parks in town. In addition, the Lynnfield Moms Group has worked tirelessly for the past two years holding private fundraisers to assist in this endeavor for the benefit of all of the town’s children. The playground structures were over 20 years old and posed a safety hazard to children. The new play structure will also be handicap accessible.

LCWD Summer Street construction detour

The Lynnfield Center Water District (LCWD) will be working on a Summer Street water main located at the intersection of Ashwood Road during the week of Monday, June 20 through Friday, June 24.

Intermittent lane closures will result in detouring traffic from Summer Street around the construction project using Melch, Michaels and Huckleberry roads.

The LCWD apologizes for any inconvenience that this construction may cause and appreciates the public’s cooperation by requesting the use of extreme caution when driving through the detour and construction areas.
