LYNNFIELD — The Lynnfield-North Reading co-operative wrestling team celebrated team and individual accomplishments during the annual end of the season banquet on March 11.

LNR finished the 2018-2019 season with a 7-15 record.

“The Black and Gold, who had to forfeit two to three weight classes most of the season, still managed to outscore their opponents in dual meet points and win more individual dual meet matches,” said LNR head coach Craig Stone. “Unfortunately, giving up 12-18 points each meet made it difficult to win more dual meets.”

Stone noted three grapplers placed at the Anthony Lisitano Tournament in Wakefield, four placed in the Pentucket Tournament, eight placed at the Cohasset Tournament, two placed at the CAL/NEC Tournament and four placed at the Division 2 State Tournament.

Additionally, captain Sean McCullough placed second in the Division 2 State Tournament and finished seventh in the All-State Tournament.

Stone presented awards to a number of wrestlers during the tournament. Freshman Luke Benecke, junior Gerry Callagy, junior Aidan Carucci, captain Stuart Glover, captain Timmy Leggett, freshman Ryan McCullough, junior Chris Metrano, junior Cameron Randazzo and sophomore Jack Ross were each presented with first-year Iron Man Awards. Junior Eric Benecke, junior Greg Camier and sophomore Nik Marotta received their second-year Iron Man Awards. Sean McCullough, junior Giovanni Colucciello and junior Dan Ryan were given their third-year Iron Man Awards.

Sophomore Christian Real-Costa was the recipient of the Fastest Fall and 70 Point Club awards. Metrano received the 70 Point Award. Camier was given the 90 Point Club and Most Improved awards. Glover received the 100 Point Club, Most Pins and Most Improved awards.

Colucciello was the winner of the John O’Donnell Team Spirit Award. Leggett was the recipient of the 100 Point Club and Outstanding Achievement awards. Ryan was given the Coaches Award. Sean McCullough received the 100 Point Club, Most Wins, Most Points, Most Takedowns and Contributed Most awards. Senior captain Dylan Reardon was given the Unsung Hero Award.

Stone presented varsity letters to freshmen Ethan Barnes-Felix, Ryan McCullough, Jack Terranova and Luke Benecke. The sophomores who received varsity letters were Marotta, Real-Costa and Ross.

The juniors who were presented with varsity letters were Glover, Mike Conley, Metrano, Leggett, Randazzo, Ryan, Colucciello, Eric Benecke, Sean McCullough, Brandon Ouellette, Callagy, Camier, Carucci and Steven Kane. Reardon also received a varsity letter.

The Black and Gold elected Glover, Leggett and Sean McCullough as captains for the 2019-2020 season during the banquet. All three juniors served as captains this past winter.
