LYNNFIELD — The Lynnfield High boys’ cross country team suffered their first loss of the season in their final dual meet, falling to undefeated Hamilton-Wenham 17-43 on Oct. 9.

The Pioneers celebrated their six seniors that day: captains Shlok Kudrimoti, Ashkrit Mahajan and Shea McCarthy, along with Erik Bell, Emile Coumans and Matthew Squadrito.

“Hamilton-Wenham is one of the best teams in the state,” said head coach Bill Wallace. “Despite the loss, there were a good number of PR’s on the home course.”

The Pioneers were once again led by McCarthy who ran a personal best of 15:59 (4th overall). He was followed by junior captain Dylan Nguyen (PR of 16:43, 7th overall), junior Nick DeGennaro (17:58, 9th overall), sophomore Liam Gardner (18:11, 11th overall) and Mahajan (18:16, 12th overall).

Lynnfield will now move on to postseason play. They will compete in the Catholic Memorial Invitational at Franklin Park in Boston on Saturday.
