LYNNFIELD — A ten-day layoff did not negatively effect the Lynnfield High boys’ lacrosse team on Monday afternoon as they stomped visiting St. Mary’s of Lynn, 14-1, in a non-league game.

With that win, the Pioneers improved to 6-1 overall.

“I was worried about the layoff,” admitted Pioneers head coach Pat Lamusta. “We committed five penalties in the first half but played much cleaner in the second half.”
Although, they did commit the five penalties, the Pioneers outmatched the Spartans in the opening 24 minutes as they led 9-1 at the half.

Owen Considine led the LHS offense with six points as he had five goals and one assist. Drew Damiani found the back of the Spartan net four times while Will Norton had two goals and two assists.

Kelan Cardinal added one goal and one assist while Mike Murphy, had one goal and two assists. Owen Doherty had the other tally.

Steve Dreher had one assist.

Norton and James Sharkey led the team in ground balls with four each.

Face-off specialist, Bryce Kay, had 13 face-off wins.

Lynnfield goalie, Ben Pimentel, made 10 stops to improve to 6-1 in net.

On April 27, the Pioneers visit Newburyport at 4 p.m. They then host Ipswich on May 1 with that game also starting at 4 p.m.
