LYNNFIELD — In its home opener on May 14, the Lynnfield High boys’ tennis team blanked guest Rockport 5-0 at Lynnfield Middle School. With that win, their second 5-0 shutout, the Pioneers improved to 2-0.
“We were able to stay focused the entire match,” said Pioneers head coach Joe Dunn, as all five wins over the Vikings came in straight sets. “We didn’t have a let-down.”

Junior co-captain Harrison Luba won at first singles, 6-1, 6-0 while, second-singles player, senior co-captain, Jamil Khodr won 6-1, 6-0. At third singles, freshman Dan Levin went to 2-0 winning 6-2, 6-0.

In doubles play, the first team of juniors Dave Kasdon and Jason Yang won 6-0, 6-1, while the second team of freshman Russell Kasdon and sophomore Rafik Khodr won 6-4, 6-3, to go to 2-0 this spring.

Lynnfield hosted Hamilton-Wenham on Tuesday after press time. On Wednesday (May 19), the Pioneers will host Newburyport at 3:30 p.m. Lynnfield then visits Pentucket on May 21 with that match also starting at 3:30 pm.
